I know what you’re thinking
and I’m here to address it. With all that’s going on, are you guys still going to be working at weddings? Well, we’ve been taking this very seriously since January and following all of the updates and now, it’s really starting to get serious. Places of work are shutting down for months on end and the kids are on an extended spring break. This week, 2 of the engagement sessions that we had scheduled for this weekend have been rescheduled by the Bride and yesterday we had our first wedding cancellation, due to COVID-19. Although, we’re sad that our Brides and Grooms are faced with this stressful situation during their wedding planning process, we are so proud of them for making such a courageous and selfless decision for the wellbeing of their guests.
What you Can Do as a Photographer
WASH YOUR HANDS! (I know that’s what you wanted to see first…) but seriously, soap and water. I know that’s not always accessible to us on the field so clip some hand sanitizer to your camera strap.
Send your clients an e-mail to assure them that you haven’t forgot about them during this time and to ensure them that you’re taking precautions serious
Be understanding and supportive to your clients who have to make these hard decisions for their day. Treat others how you would like to be treated but respect your business in the process. Find your balance and be professional.
Have a Back-Up Photographer for each wedding (just in case worst case scenario)
Start doing Elbow Bumps, instead of the traditional handshake or hug (I know this is a hard one for me too!)
For Engagement Sessions…Avoid crowd-dense locations like museums, art galleries, hotels, etc. Go somewhere like the Park or do an in-home session.
As soon as you get home from an event strip clothes at the door, shower and then go play with the baby (this is a personal one for us, being new parents and a daughter to a 70 year old it’s important to not only stay clean for ourselves but for our little family too!)
Stay Positive :)
Thanks for coming to my TED TALK I hope this helps in some kind of way :) Here are some more of our blogs regarding COVID’s effects on Wedding Planning.
Best Wishes!
